Leicestershire CCC has announced that Dieter Klein will leave the Running Foxes at the end of the 2021 campaign.
The left-arm seamer has spent the past six seasons at the Club having signed during the 2016 campaign and has gone on to represent Leicestershire 72 times across all three formats.
Featuring mostly in first-class cricket, the South Africa bowler has taken a total of 71 wickets for the Running Foxes, at an average of 36.92 and a best of six for 80.
Klein has also showed his worth with the bat with an impressive highest score of 94 coming against Lancashire CCC in 2018.
His career at Leicestershire also saw the Foxes number 77 become a mainstay in both white ball sides as well, having made 20 List A and 23 T20 appearances.
International call ups also came during his time in the Midlands, as he made his IT20 bow for Germany in 2020.
A total of 45 white-ball wickets for the Running Foxes, ultimately culminated in two quarter-final appearances in the Vitality Blast in 2018 and 2020 respectively.
Klein said: “It has been a pleasure being part of the club and representing the Foxes family over the last 6 seasons.
“I would like to thank all the Foxes staff, my teammates and all the fans for all the support over the years. It has been an incredible journey for me since becoming part of the club in 2016.
“I want to wish the club all the very best for the future.
“Once a Fox, always a Fox.â€
Head Coach Paul Nixon added: “We would like to thank Dieter [Klein] for
all of his commitment, hard work and professionalism over the last six years at
Leicestershire.
“He has made many friends on and off the pitch and he is always welcome at the Uptonsteel County Ground.â€
Leicestershire CCC CEO, Sean Jarvis thanked Dieter for his services to the Running Foxes over the past six seasons, he said: “It is always sad when such a character leaves the Club.
“Dieter [Klein] has been the ultimate professional and an absolute pleasure during my time here and it is sad to be saying goodbye, but Leicestershire must continue to evolve.
“We will watch his next steps develop with real interest and he is always welcome at the Club.
“We wish him all the best for the future and thank him for his service to Leicestershire CCC. I look forward to our paths crossing again in the future.â€
