Leicestershire CCC is delighted to be working with Think Sports Management Ltd, the company who has sponsored Umar Akmal’s deal at Grace Road this summer.
Akmal, a talented batsman and wicket-keeper, signed for Leicestershire in the NatWest T20 Blast for the first four matches in June as Grant Elliott linked up with New Zealand for the Royal London ODI series against England. The 25-year-old has also made his List A and LV=CC debuts during his time at the club.
The deal with Think Sports Management Ltd helped to make the signing possible and Akmal had a stunning Foxes debut at Nottinghamshire Outlaws where he struck 76 off just 49 balls, including five sixes.
Akmal then played against New Zealand in a 50-over fixture and Northamptonshire Steelbacks in the NatWest T20 Blast before playing in the LV=CC game at Lancashire. The Pakistan international will also play NatWest T20 Blast games at Derbyshire Falcons and Birmingham Bears this week.
Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE said: “We are delighted to be working with Think Sports Management Ltd this summer, and we hope that it is the start of a long relationship with them.
“With Umar in our team and Shahid Afridi playing for Northamptonshire Steelbacks, it was fantastic to have two exciting Pakistan international cricketers here at Grace Road. It was just a shame that the weather spoilt what would have been a great game.”
