Under 17s land title in style

Leicestershire Young Cricketers Under 17s secured the Royal London Division B title after beating Suffolk comfortably in the final played at Attenborough CC in Nottinghamshire.

Suffolk batted first but were 30-5 as Prahlad Odedra blew away the opposition top order in taking three wickets. Suffolk Skipper Fergus Atkins did his best to get his side to a challenging total, making 60, and he was supported by Alex Cruickshank 25*.

The Leicestershire bowlers shone with Odedra leading the way with his three wickets and he was well backed up by Uday Modhwadia and Will Legg, who claimed two apiece. There was then one wicket apiece for Raheem Ahmed, Nat Bowley and a run out.

An early wicket could have raised the nerves of the Leicestershire team, but Dylan Church and Ajay Khunti added 69 for the second wicket, before Khunti fell for 40 and shortly after Church went for 28.

This left Rehan Ahmed and Legg to guide the side home in impressive style. Ahmed was unbeaten on 34* from 62 balls playing a patient innings and Legg was 21* as the Under 17s won by seven wickets.

Everyone at Leicestershire CCC would like to congratulate the Under 17s on their impressive season.
