Uppingham School Continue as Official Partner

Leicestershire County Cricket Club announce Uppingham School are to continue as the official home venue for the LCCC Academy programme, hosting home fixtures for the Academy U18s for the 2022 season.

First becoming the U18s home in 2017, the school will again offer their first-class facilities, including state-of-the-art practice nets, bowling machines and pitches from July through to September.

As part of the partnership, Uppingham will also become the official player sponsor for Running Foxes batsman George Rhodes, while the school’s logo will be showcased on the advertising boards situated on the boundary perimeter fence at Uptonsteel County Ground.

LCCC Academy coaches will be present to scout under 14 students at the school’s intake, while Uppingham’s 1st XI squad and coaching staff will have the opportunity to watch the Running Foxes in action at a T20 blast fixture of their choice later in the summer.

Leicestershire will also lend their expertise to the school through several specialist staff development sessions, including grounds maintenance advice from LCCC’s Head Groundsman Andy Ward and his team.

As well as being the home venue for LCCC’s U18 fixtures, Uppingham will host the Club’s Second XI for a four-day fixture against East Midlands rivals Nottinghamshire in the Second Eleven Championship starting on Monday, 4 July.

Andy Siddall, Director of Cricket at Uppingham School, said: ““We are really happy to continue our partnership with LCCC, supporting the Academy and Jigar Naik.
“We are looking forward to hosting the 2nd XI this summer against Nottinghamshire, as it is another positive move forward in our aim to host First Class Cricket by 2024.”

Jigar Naik, Head of Talent Pathway at Leicestershire CCC, said: “We are excited to see our U18s in action during a busy fixture schedule at Uppingham again this summer.

“Their facilities will be a perfect platform for our Academy side to develop their skillsets, which will further support the Club’s objective to mold as many young players as possible into First Team stars.”
