Uptonsteel County Ground to host World Cup Finalists

Leicestershire’s summer of cricket grows even bigger with even more international action taking place at the Uptonsteel County Ground, with the visit of England Under 19s.

The World Cup finalists will travel to the home of Rehan Ahmed, an integral member of the squad, as they take on Sri Lanka Under 19s on Saturday, September 10, 2022 in the final fixture of their three-game ODI series, and the final fixture of Sri Lanka’s tour.

The fixture falls two days before the Running Foxes welcome Durham to the Uptonsteel County Ground in LV= Insurance County Championship action as the 2022 campaign looks to draw to a close.

With the addition of the ODI fixture, the Uptonsteel County Ground is now welcoming international cricket on three different levels, with India taking on Leicestershire CCC in a tour fixture beginning on Friday, June 24, 2022, and England Women facing South Africa Women in their final ODI of the three-game series on Monday, July 18, 2022.

Head of Marketing and Consumer Sales at Leicestershire CCC, Jack Bradley commented: “To host another international fixture at the Uptonsteel County Ground is really exciting.
“Couple with the visit of India and England Women, we have a thrilling summer of international cricket taking place at Leicester’ premier outdoor venue.
“We look forward to welcoming one of our own in Rehan Ahmed through the gates, along with the very exciting crop of young talent coming through at present.”
