Leicestershire CCC is delighted to announce that all-rounder Tom Wells has signed a two-year extension to his contract at the Fischer County Ground.
The young all-rounder enjoyed a productive winter at Auckland University in New Zealand and continues to make excellent progress at the club, scoring a career-best 87 not out against Sri Lanka last weekend.
Wells has also made a big impact in NatWest T20 Blast for the Foxes, scoring 373 runs at an average of 28.69 with an excellent strike rate of 138.66.
The new contract sees the 23-year-old Wells remaining at Leicestershire CCC until at least the end of the 2018 season.
Wells said: “It’s great to sign a new contract and I’m really looking forward to the next two years. It’s clear that the club is going in the right direction and it’s really exciting to be a part of it.
“The environment created by the coaches is one of elite performance and it’s making all of the lads want to be a part of it. We have a solid gameplan and all of the lads are buying into it.”
Leicestershire CCC Elite Performance Director Andrew McDonald said: “Tom has made great progress at the club over the last few years and put in a very strong performance against Sri Lanka last week.
“We’re really pleased that Tom has committed his future to the club because he’s an important part of our plans moving forward. Tom has come through the system here and it is great that he’ll be continuing his development at the Fischer County Ground.”
