Leicestershire moved to within 4,300 runs of reaching 1,000,000 in first-class cricket at the start of the 2014 season. There have been 3,767 runs scored this season after the first innings at Essex, so we require just 533 more runs to reach the magic million mark.
To celebrate the milestone, we are running a competition for a bit of fun that is also raising vital funds for Friends of Grace Road.
All you have to do is guess which Leicestershire batsman will score the magical run. We are also asking you to guess the opponents and the date it will be scored on to help in a tie-break situation.
Batsman Andrea Agathangelou is now part of the Leicestershire squad, so if you think he might be the man to score the magic run, it is worth putting another entry in!
The prize is the chance for four people to watch a day’s LV=CC play from one of our hospitality suites and we will also provide lunch in the Charles Palmer Suite and some afternoon tea.
In the event that more than one person gets all criteria correct, the winning entry will be the one that was entered the earliest.
Entry costs £1 and you can enter as many times as you wish. You need to be quick to get your vote in before the landmark is fast approaching. Entry forms can be downloaded HERE or picked up from main reception or from the Friends of Grace Road in the Meet this weekend.
