After another successful summer for Leicestershire’s budding best, the Club’s pathway sides gathered to celebrate their accomplishments at the annual End of Season Academy Awards Evening on Sunday (8 October).
The 2023 season saw its pathway products flourish at all levels. Jake Tarling struck successive centuries at the prestigious ECB Super 4s competition, while fellow Academy scholar Alex Green impressed in a duo of Young Lions 50-over warm-up fixtures.
U15 stars Harry Brindle and Ronak Rajashekar participated in the esteemed Bunbury Festival, and on the international stage, Jamie Dunk was awarded ICC Under 19 Men's World Cup Qualifiers Player of the Tournament for Scotland in August.
Dunk, who posted 708 runs at 33.71 for the Academy this summer, was awarded Coaches’ Player of the Year, while Will Begy’s 805 runs at 53.67 earned him Academy Batter of the Year. 52 wickets for Alex Green merited Bowler of the Year, while Rishan Herath scooped Fielder of the Year.
At Under 16 level, Josh Fitzpatrick scored 410 runs at 58.57 to claim Batter of the Year, while Devarsh Shah and Ali Farooq shared the Bowler of the Year award. Oliver Billington won Fielder of the Year, while Keshav Sthanakiya earned Coaches’ Player of the Year for Paul Johnson’s side.
With an average of 50, Ronak Rajashekar took home Batter of the Year for the Under 15s, and fellow Bunbury star Harry Brindle walked away with the Bowler of the Year award. Arnav Rai and Barney Dring were named Fielder of the Year and Coaches’ Player of the Year respectively.
Under 14s top scorer Suhail Noori won Batter of the Year, while Giaan Rupra earned Bowler of the Year. Zach Wainwright earned a duo of awards, claiming Fielder of the Year and Coaches’ Player of the Year for Dave Whitmore’s squad.
Thomas Martin was named Under 13s Batter of the Year, and Harry Cox as Bowler of the Year, with Ciaran Freeman named as Fielder of the Year. Top run-scorer and third leading wicket-taker Thenuk de Costa was honoured as Coaches’ Player.
Dieter Klein’s Under 12s outfit saw Aryan Banker win Batter of the Year, William Clarke was selected as Bowler of the Year, and Sam Macleod-Smith chosen as Fielder of the Year. Charlie Biggs was crowned Coaches’ Player for the Foxes’ youngest pathway side.
Congratulations to all of our award winners, as well as to all the Pathway players, staff and parents for another superb summer.
