Ben Green Returns On Two-Month Loan Deal

Ben Green will rejoin Leicestershire for the opening seven rounds of the Rothesay County Championship after a loan deal for the all-rounder was agreed with Somerset.

The 27-year-old featured in six first-class matches for the Foxes last term, scoring 143 runs from seven innings and picking up 11 wickets.

Green evidenced his all-round capabilities by setting first-class career bests with both bat and ball during Leicestershire’s 123-run win over Middlesex last July, claiming 4/28 before scoring 77 in the second innings to set up victory.

The former England Under-19 international is set to link up with the squad in early April ahead of Leicestershire’s 2025 season opener away at Glamorgan, and will remain at Uptonsteel County Ground until the beginning of the Vitality Blast.

Discussing his return to Leicestershire, Green said: “I loved my spell with the Club last season, so I’m excited to come back. The togetherness of the group was amazing, both players and coaches were incredibly welcoming and aligned in their vision.

“The first half of the Championship campaign can set the tone for the season, so my aim is to help build on the great cricket we played last year and contribute to more wins.”

Claude Henderson, Director of Cricket, said: “Ben's all-round skills will add further quality to our changing room. He fitted in seamlessly with the squad last year and became a popular member of the group instantly. We’re excited to have him back with us for the start of the summer.”
