Club Launch 'Foxes Learning and Development Academy'

Leicestershire County Cricket Club are proud to announce the launch of ‘Foxes Learning and Development Academy’ at Uptonsteel County Ground.

The Academy, developed in partnership with key educational and business partners across the county, aims to provide a high-quality, inspirational educational experience that prepares students for success in business, higher education, and beyond.

This co-educational facility will serve over 400 local and international learners, including students who have underachieved in traditional settings, NEETs (young people not in Education, Employment, or Training), and adults seeking further education and upskilling opportunities.

The Academy will offer a comprehensive curriculum emphasising core subjects such as English, Maths, and IT, along with opportunities for progression to Level 3 courses in various academic and vocational fields.

Key features of the programme include:

• High achievement levels in core curriculum subjects.
• Partnerships with colleges, universities, and employers for curriculum support, mentoring, work experience, and enrichment activities.
• International partnerships to support education for the 18+ market.
• Emphasis on student health and wellbeing across the curriculum.
• Encouragement of participation in academic, sporting, and cultural activities.
• Community engagement initiatives to foster social responsibility and community enterprise.

Having the perfect location and environment for learning and development, we hope to see circa 400 students come to the ground as part of their personal and professional development. Working with partners across the city and county will bring the vision to reality.”

The academy will set ambitious standards in all aspects of education, supported by personalised pathways, mentoring, and preparation for work or higher education. Our innovative approach, backed by reputable partners from sports and other sectors, aims to nurture well-rounded individuals ready to contribute to society and the economy.

Students will receive targeted support in literacy, numeracy, and 21st-century technology skills while pursuing vocational qualifications in their chosen fields. Enrichment activities, extended work experience, and involvement in real-life projects with our major partners will further enhance their learning experience.

Our curriculum, developed in collaboration with local schools and colleges, will focus on core skills and readiness for employment. It will incorporate decision-making, ethical choices, and personal responsibility, with a strong emphasis on Student Voice to engage young people in their learning.
