Leicestershire CCC is pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Whitmore as First XI Fielding Coach.
The 31-year-old will assume First Team responsibilities after switching over from his role as Talent Pathway Coach and EPP Head Coach with Leicestershire’s Academy.
Whitmore joined the Club as a Pathway coach in 2012, and has helped develop the likes of Rehan Ahmed, Harry Swindells and Josh Hull across his coaching career.
The Leicester-born coach previously worked with the senior team during the 2020 season, while he has also spent time assisting Dips Patel at Second Team level.
Following an interim spell as Head of Academy in 2019, Whitmore went on to lead the seam and fielding departments of the Pathway in his most recent role.
Discussing his appointment, Whitmore said: “It’s an exciting time to join the First Team setup. I’m really looking forward to working with, and learning from, both Alfonso (Thomas) and James (Taylor).
“The team are looking sharp, there’s a great atmosphere in the group, and we’re all fully focussed on building on last season's success.
“We’ve looked at last year’s data and highlighted our strengths in the field, as well as a few key areas to improve on. Now it’s time to put those plans into practice across the winter.â€
Director of Cricket, Claude Henderson, said: “We are delighted to welcome Dave to the First Team coaching staff. Dave has fantastic organisational skills and a great work ethic, which will add great value to our players and coaching group.â€
Whitmore completes the Club’s First Team coaching setup following last month’s appointments of Alfonso Thomas and James Taylor as Head Coach and Batting Coach respectively.
