The EDI meeting on January 31st covered several key initiatives and updates, reinforcing the commitment to inclusivity and accessibility across various areas. The discussions focused on ongoing projects, new proposals, and opportunities to further support underrepresented groups within the community.
One of the key initiatives discussed was the allocation of a budget for an initial set of five disability sensory packs, which are set to go live before the T20 matches. These packs are designed to support individuals with sensory sensitivities, providing them with tools to enhance their experience during games. Each pack will include ear defenders to help reduce noise levels, scented marker pens and colouring sheets to offer a calming activity, fidget toys to assist with focus and relaxation, and other sensory-friendly items. The aim is to create a more inclusive environment, ensuring that fans of all abilities can enjoy the matchday experience comfortably. Once funding is secured, the next step will be to liaise with the communications team to promote the initiative and raise awareness among attendees.
Discussions around the “Her Game Too†initiative confirmed that sanitary products have been available at the venue for over a year, with responsibility for replenishment falling to the cleaners. While this provision has already been in place, the meeting highlighted the importance of expanding access to ensure that products are consistently available in all changing rooms, making them more accessible to players and staff. This step aligns with the wider commitment to inclusivity and the promotion of gender equality in sports, ensuring that no one is disadvantaged due to a lack of essential facilities. Dan Archer, Stadium Manager, will oversee the extension of these provisions, working towards making sanitary products a standard and accessible feature across all relevant spaces
