Friends Of Grace Road Donations Fund Essential Ground Repairs

Friends of Grace Road, the fan-led group of volunteers who support the Club, have made a substantial donation to fund essential repairs at Uptonsteel County Ground.

The group’s most recent donations have facilitated repairs to the blotter, while the historic manual scoreboard clock has also been fixed.

The blotter, which has been in constant use across a rain-dominated start to the 2024 season, needed stripping down and the foam replacing on the rollers to ensure the groundstaff are able to remove water from the playing surface.

A rebrand of the Dafabet Stand has also seen the seating turn green in line with the Club’s primary colour thanks to the Friends’ fantastic fundraising efforts.

Friends of Grace Road Chair, Mike Siddall, said: “This is the first time Friends have made an ‘in season’ donation, but we felt that both the blotter and the clock needed fixing as soon as possible, and we were happy to cover the cost.

“Supporters will also note the excellent refurbishment of seats at the Pavilion End, funded by the FoGR annual donation, which this season totalled £15,000.”

FoGR volunteers will be selling their tremendous range of homemade cakes and hot drinks in their dedicated café, located in the Lower Meet, during Leicestershire’s home Metro Bank One Day Cup and County Championship fixtures.

You can also support the friends by purchasing 50/50 raffle tickets at the two remaining Vitality Blast group stage matches against Northants and Notts Outlaws this weekend.
