Leicestershire CCC is delighted to announce the return of Lucy Higham on loan from The Blaze for the remainder of the Vitality Blast.
The Leicester-born all-rounder signs on a dual-registration move and will be eligible to make her second debut for the Foxes in Friday evening’s home T20 clash against Northamptonshire Steelbacks.
After coming through Leicestershire’s pathway system, Higham made her debut against Scotland in the 2013 LV Women’s County Championship. She went on to take 58 wickets at an average of 15.86, while adding 580 runs with the bat from 38 innings, before making the switch to Nottinghamshire in 2017.
A right-arm off spinner, Higham has tallied 179 career wickets, bested by returns of five for 19 against Central Sparks in 2023. With the bat, the 27-year-old has registered 1,867 runs across formats, headlined by a knock of 74 versus Northamptonshire.
Her rich T20 pedigree was rewarded with contracts for The Hundred, with Higham representing both Trent Rockets and Northern Superchargers since the tournament’s inception.
Commenting on Higham’s return to Leicestershire, Women’s Head Coach Stephen Franklin said: “We’re thrilled to have Lucy back wearing the Fox. As a local girl, and someone that has gone from our pathway right to the top of the domestic game, she is a brilliant role model for the Club.
“Lucy is a three-dimensional cricketer who will add great depth to our batting and spin departments, as well as provide expert knowledge and experience of women’s domestic cricket, which will be key as we navigate our way to becoming more professional.
“We’re very excited to witness what she can bring to the group on and off the field in the weeks ahead.â€
