Holland Headlines Latest Overseas Report

Ian Holland enjoyed a superb weekend with bat and ball as Ringwood CC fell one wicket short of a dramatic victory over Richmond CC.

The all-rounder opened the batting and bowling for his side, top scoring with 69 (144) on Saturday, before 4/51 from 19 overs on Sunday.

Rishi Patel continued his fine form Down Under, blasting 51 from just 21 balls before he was run out in Bayswater CC’s 94-run defeat to St Bernard's OC.

Chasing 251 from 45 overs, the opener scorched a rapid half-century “ featuring six fours and four sixes “ before he was run out by a combination of Conor Browne and Joshua Lawrenson. The 26-year-old is averaging 80.4 in the format this term.

In a low-scoring affair at the City Coburg Oval, Tom Scriven’s miserly bowling display clinched victory for Croydon CC. Opening the bowling, the all-rounder picked up 3/23 from 7.2 overs “ pinning both Cameron Harding and Sidney Thomson leg-before in his opening spell.

He then returned to take the match-winning wicket of Yashwin Nanjappa midway through the 33rd over, skittling the hosts for just 93.

Elsewhere, Roman Walker took 1/43 from 12 overs and chipped in with 20 runs in the middle order in Kingston Hawthorn CC’s draw with Essendon CC.

Louis Kimber was dismissed for three in Sydney CC’s draw with Bankstown, while Ben Mike didn’t get a chance to add to his impressive bowling display last weekend (14-3-42-2), as day two of Northern District’s meeting with Manly Warringah was curtailed early due to rain.

There could be a Big Bash League appearance for Peter Handscomb on Wednesday after he was drafted in as a replacement for Beau Webster by Melbourne Stars ahead of their knockout final against Sydney Thunder.

Alex Green and Rehan Ahmed have had to settle for watching briefs this week, but both are in contention to play for England U19s and Gulf Giants on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
