Ian Holland’s explosive T20 hundred headlined the latest round of fixtures for Leicestershire’s overseas contingent.
The 34-year-old clubbed 104 from just 48 balls to send Mitcham CC to the semi-finals of the Kookaburra Shield. Holland reached three figures in spectacular fashion, reverse ramping for six, his ninth of a fantastic innings, as Mitcham defeated Backburn South CC by 48 runs.
Tom Scriven maintained his stellar form with bat and ball to help Croydon CC to a four-wicket victory over Balwyn CC. The all-rounder picked up figures of 9-3-30-2, before top-scoring with 44 to seal back-to-back wins for his side.
In New South Wales, Louis Kimber returned to form with a fluent 44 (51b) on day one of Sydney CC’s meeting with Manly Warringah, while Rishi Patel made 21 in Bayswater CC’s 87-run thumping of Strathmore CC. The Foxes opener is enjoying a superb stint in Melbourne “ leading the way with 470 runs at 70.5 in one-day cricket.
Roman Walker produced another economical display with the ball, conceding just 25 runs from 11 overs and picking up the wicket of opener Angus Roach as Kingston Hawthorn CC dismissed visitors Fitzroy Doncaster CC for 204 on day one.
There was a rare failure for Ben Mike, who was dismissed for a duck at the weekend. The all-rounder is still averaging 75.5 in two-day cricket for Northern Districts CC this winter, who will be looking to add to his 11 wickets when he bowls on Saturday.
In franchise cricket, Peter Handscomb made 11 in Melbourne Stars’ knockout defeat to Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League, while Rehan Ahmed has had to settle for a watching brief for Gulf Giants in the past week.
Two Foxes have also been representing Leicestershire on the international stage, featuring for England U19s. Alex Green picked up 1/21 in a four-wicket defeat to South Africa, while Prisha Thanawala fired the Three Lions to the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s Under 19 T20 World Cup after picking up three wickets during Monday’s commanding win over New Zealand.
