Introducing Leicestershire Women 2025 | Meet The New-Look Foxes

We are delighted to announce the Leicestershire Women squad for the forthcoming 2025 season as the Foxes embark on their first campaign as a Tier Two county.

Stephen Franklin’s side will compete on three fronts this summer, as they bid to secure silverware in T20 Vitality Blast League 2, Metro Bank One Day Cup League 2 and the Vitality T20 Women's County Cup.

Led by captain Becki Brooker, Leicestershire have named a 17-strong squad, boasting returning stars and a host of exciting additions from across the country.

New arrivals include Emma Thatcher - who finished as the leading wicket-taker in the Women’s County Championship last summer “ and Ellen Watson “ a Scottish wicketkeeper with 30 caps at international level.


The squad for the 2025 season is as follows:

•             (12) Rebecca Brooker “ Club captain who posted Leicestershire Women’s highest individual total, scoring 145 during a 203-run victory over Cambridgeshire last summer.

•             (42) Molly Abraham “ Right-arm pace bowler, new signing from Yorkshire.

•             (29) Sophie Bennett “ Wicketkeeper/opening batter, played for Leicestershire since 2017.

•             (4) Hayley Brown “ Right-arm top-order batter, new signing from Northamptonshire.

•             (13) Aimee Colquhoun “ Bowling all-rounder, played for Leicestershire since 2016.

•             (27) Laura Crofts “ Bowling all-rounder, new signing from Warwickshire.

•             (30) Flora Davies “ Right-handed batter, also on The Blaze academy, became the first female player to hit a hundred for Leicestershire at Uptonsteel County Ground.

•             (24) April Herathge “ Right-arm leg-spinner, niece of former Sri Lanka captain Chamara Kapugedera, played for Leicestershire since 2023.

•             (84) Ellie Phillips “ All-rounder, new signing from Warwickshire.

•             (66) D’Nica Roff “ Leg-spinning all-rounder, scored a hundred and took 6/17 for Leicestershire Under-18s last summer.

•             (79) Bethan Solomon “ All-rounder, new signing from Northamptonshire.

•             (15) Francesca Sweet “ Top-order batter, new signing from Berkshire.

•             (18) Prisha Thanawala “ All-rounder on loan from The Blaze, scored four age-group hundreds since her Foxes debut in 2018, including a record 206 for the Under-15s in 2022.

•             (17) Emma Thatcher “ Left-arm seamer who topped the wicket-taking charts in the ECB Women’s County Championship last summer, new signing from Derbyshire.

•             (44) Ellen Watson “ Wicketkeeper/batter with 30 appearances for Scotland at international level.

•             (73) Lucy Weston “ Batting all-rounder, played for Leicestershire since 2015.

•             (31) Holly Whitfield “ Right-arm seamer, new signing from Warwickshire.


Speaking on the announcement of the new-look Foxes, Head Coach, Stephen Franklin said: "We’re thrilled with the squad we’ve managed to assemble for the upcoming season.

“We possess a great mixture of experience and promising young talent, with fantastic depth in all departments. It will create selection headaches for us, but we’re really looking forward to seeing the team showcase their skills at this level.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time with the new structure and our new setup, and we hope to see as many Members and supporters join us on our journey. We want the girls to entertain and inspire, so that support will be crucial to our growth.”

Leicestershire kick off their maiden season as a Tier Two county at Uptonsteel County Ground, hosting Northamptonshire on Sunday 20 April in Metro Bank One Day Cup League 2.

The Foxes will also play five T20 fixtures on Grace Road, starting with a Vitality T20 County Cup 2nd round tie against either Lincolnshire or Cheshire on Saturday 10 May.

New in 2025, Uptonsteel County Ground will see three Women’s standalone T20 fixtures for the first time, while the schedule also features two T20 double-header matchdays alongside Leicestershire Men, as both Foxes outfits take on Worcestershire Rapids (15 June) and Yorkshire (18 July).
