Jamie Dunk Named Player Of The Tournament In ICC U19's World Cup Qualifiers

Leicestershire CCC Pathway star Jamie Dunk has been awarded Player of the Tournament for an outstanding run of performances in the 2023 ICC Under 19 Men's World Cup Qualifiers.

The 17-year-old finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer while representing Scotland during last week’s qualifiers in the Netherlands.

His 255 runs at an average of 85 fired Scotland’s U19s to the top of the table, securing their progress to the 2024 Men’s U19s World Cup in Sri Lanka.

Dunk top-scored with an impressive 96 from 99 balls and took the final wicket to fall in Saturday’s comfortable 151-run victory over Italy, securing the Saltires’ third successive appearance at the event.

It concluded a fantastic week for the opener, who also hit an unbeaten fifty in a 10-wicket win against Norway and top scored with 87 in a 70-run triumph over Jersey.

Alongside being named Player of the Tournament, Dunk was presented with the Player of The Match award in the wins over both Norway and Jersey.

The teenager has scored 490 runs at 30.63 for Leicestershire’s Pathway setup this summer, and posted a sublime century in the Academy’s pre-season tour of the UAE in February.

Discussing Dunk’s impressive form, Jigar Naik, LCCC’s Head of Talent Pathway, said: “Jamie's contributions towards the team have been outstanding and he has duly deserved to be named Player of the Tournament.

“His form is testament to the work he's put in during the winter. We are delighted to see him doing so well and perform to the best of his ability.

“Coming away from the tournament after putting in match winning contributions should fill him with huge confidence and self-belief.”

The ongoing U19 Americas Qualifier will determine the final nation to qualify for the World Cup, with Dunk bidding to be part of the Scotland side that will compete in Sri Lanka next January.
