Jonny Tattersall Signs For Leicestershire On Three-Year Deal

Leicestershire CCC is excited to announce the signing of wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Tattersall from Yorkshire on a three-year-deal.

The 30-year-old will officially join the Club on 1 November, becoming the Foxes’ first recruit ahead of the 2026 campaign.

Debuting for Yorkshire in 2013, Tattersall has made 155 career appearances and scored 4,339 runs across formats, bested by a knock of 180 not out against Surrey at Scarborough during the 2022 summer.

The Yorkshireman also caught the eye against the Foxes last September, scoring an assured 126 to rescue his side from 56 for four on a tricky batting track at Uptonsteel County Ground.

That knock was part of a promotion-winning 2024 season, where Tattersall captained his home county to Division One, averaging more than 40 with the bat as an ever-present. He has also skippered Yorkshire in limited-overs cricket, leading the White Rose during the 2022 and 2024 One Day Cup campaigns.

An agile gloveman, the Harrogate-born star has completed 240 dismissals behind the stumps, adding further depth to Leicestershire’s wicketkeeping department following the retirement of Harry Swindells.

Discussing his future move to Uptonsteel County Ground, Tattersall said: “Leicestershire is a club that has some great history behind it and has built a team that seems to be going places.

“I can see a real purpose and a focus within the group with what they’re looking to achieve over the next few years, so it’s incredibly exciting to be asked to play a part in that journey.

“Hopefully, I can bring experience of first division cricket and help guide a few younger lads in what that experience is like, as well as produce quality performances myself.

“I'll put in everything I’ve got to take my game to the next level and help Leicestershire win matches. Hopefully that will result in some more trophies.”

Director of Cricket, Claude Henderson, said: “Jonny’s character, leadership skills and all-round cricket abilities are hugely impressive.

“He will bring vast experience to our changing room and further depth to our batting department, which will make him a significant asset to our squad.”
