A wave of community spirit swept through Leicester as the Lord Mayor’s Charity Walk brought together local sports foundations, residents, and supporters to raise vital funds for children and young people with cancer.
The annual event - coordinated by LCFC Community and supported by Leicester Tigers Foundation and the Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket Foundation - saw walkers step out in support of PASIC, a regional charity providing emotional, practical and financial help to families of children battling cancer.
The five-kilometre route took participants through some of the city's most iconic sporting and green landmarks, starting at the King Power Stadium, moving through Welford Road Stadium, the tranquil Aylestone Meadows, and finishing at Grace Road, home of Leicestershire County Cricket Club.
Representatives from all three sporting foundations joined the walk, including members of the Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket Foundation who enjoyed meeting participants along the way - stopping to chat with locals enjoying a game of cricket in the sunshine.
“We were proud to represent Leicestershire Cricket Foundation alongside our brilliant friends at LCFC Community and the Leicester Tigers Foundation,†said one team member. “PASIC is an incredible charity, and it’s always a privilege to be out in the community, meeting people and supporting a cause that touches so many lives.â€
The walk forms part of a wider tradition of charitable collaboration in Leicester, showcasing the city's commitment to unity and compassion. As one organiser put it, “This walk raises money every year - but it’s also a reminder that our Foundations are charities too. If you’ve ever wondered what we do, come say hello.â€
From the stadiums to the meadows, the event was a celebration of sport, community, and solidarity - underlining the power of walking together for a meaningful cause.
