Leicestershire CCC Launch Her Game Too Partnership

Leicestershire County Cricket Club is excited to announce the launch of a new partnership with Her Game Too as part of our unwavering commitment to tackling gender inequality within cricket.

Her Game Too, which was formed in May 2021, strives to raise awareness of sexism, misogyny, and gender disparity within sport, and aims to educate others on the importance of inclusivity and diversity.

The partnership will further champion women & girls’ cricket in Leicestershire and ensure Uptonsteel County Ground is a safe and welcoming environment for female spectators to support the Foxes.

As part of the agreement, the Club will implement a system for all supporters to anonymously report any sexist abuse experienced on matchdays, as well as enhancing the provision of sanitary products and disposal systems around the ground.

Leicestershire will also dedicate four fixtures to the Her Game Too campaign across the 2024 season, including three T20 double headers featuring Leicestershire Men, Leicestershire Women, and The Blaze, as well as August’s Family Funday fixture against Glamorgan.

Leicestershire CCC CEO, Sean Jarvis, said: “We are very proud to partner with Her Game Too and further showcase our mission to make cricket at Leicestershire CCC both welcoming and accessible for women and girls.

“We have made great strides in recent seasons to ensure the women’s game in our county continues its phenomenal growth, and this partnership underlines our continued dedication to promoting, growing, and championing women and girls’ cricket.”

Paige Caunce, Director of Cricket at Her Game Too, said: “We are incredibly thankful to Leicestershire CCC for pledging their support to the campaign and entering into a partnership with Her Game Too Cricket.

“It is important that, as the sport works towards an inclusive future, we continue fostering relationships across the community to ensure that cricket is a safe and welcoming place for all.

“Encouraged by the work Leicestershire CCC have been investing in, as well as our discussions with the Club and their intention of achieving Tier 1 professional status, we are excited about the future of cricket at Uptonsteel County Ground and within the region.

“Working together, we can take a stand against sexism and misogyny within the game and spread the message that cricket is Her Game Too.”

Leicestershire will also be seeking to appoint two #HerGameToo ambassadors to promote the Club’s work with the organisation across the 2024 season.
