Leicestershire CCC is thrilled to announce a membership milestone, as the Club passes 2,000 Members for the 2023 season.
The incredible support from the Foxes Family falls at a crucial crossroads in the Club’s history, as Leicestershire looks to combat the assertion that passion for county cricket is dwindling.
Membership has risen by 206% compared to the pre-Covid period (2019), while there has been a 20% increase in adult membership in comparison with last season.
The landmark follows an exciting winter at Uptonsteel County Ground, with the signings of Peter Handscomb and Ajinkya Rahane, the unveiling of a £60 million redevelopment masterplan, and Academy graduate Rehan Ahmed debuting in all three formats for England all swelling support for the county.
Such excitement has grown further following Sunday’s historic chase against Yorkshire in Leicestershire’s County Championship opener, as the Foxes chased down a mammoth 389 runs deep on day four to earn their first win at Headingley in 113 years.
As well as an outpouring of affection for the four-day game, the popularity of the Vitality Blast at Grace Road has also been evident, with a 22% increase in members upgrading to include T20 in their season pass.
On reaching the 2,000 members landmark, CEO Sean Jarvis said: “This significant increase in membership demonstrates the passion for Leicestershire in the region ahead of what we anticipate will be an exciting and successful season both on and off the field.
“The buzz around Uptonsteel County Ground is palpable, as is shown by the uptake in memberships, and we encourage all cricket lovers to become a part of the Foxes Family and ride this wave of optimism with us.â€
