Leicestershire County Cricket Club Announces Appointment of New Commercial Director

Leicestershire County Cricket Club is pleased to announce the appointment of John Williams as the Club’s new Commercial Director.

John brings a wealth of experience and expertise from both the corporate and sport industries, having held senior positions with the likes of Vodafone - where he managed the company’s partnership with Manchester United Football Club - and Huddersfield Town AFC, where he helped increase revenue year-on-year across a seven-season stint as Head of Partnerships.

Most recently, John has worked as both CEO and Commercial Director for National League clubs. With a proven track record of developing and executing successful commercial strategies, John is now set to lead all commercial operations and drive growth strategy at Uptonsteel County Ground as the Club accelerates its vision for a prosperous future.

John will be responsible for overseeing all commercial activities, including sponsorship, partnerships, advertising, hospitality, ticketing, and the Club’s exciting calendar of events. He will work closely with the Club's 6-Pillar senior management team to identify new business opportunities, enhance existing partnerships, and create innovative marketing campaigns to grow Leicestershire’s reach.

John is joining us at an exciting time with the masterplan starting to take shape, our cricket pillar delivering the One Day Cup trophy, as well as the recent announcement regarding the professionalisation of the women’s game.

Watching from the sidelines over the past 12 months, it is clear the Club is heading in the right direction. I’m looking forward to getting started and working closely with the commercial team, our members, partners, the ECB, and other key stakeholders, to create a prosperous future for Leicestershire.”

John will be in attendance to meet the Club’s Members at the upcoming AGM (21 March), before taking up his post full-time as Commercial Director, from 2^nd April.
