Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket Foundation Update | August 2024

Dear Supporters,

As the Managing Director of the newly formed Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket Foundation, I am proud of the journey we have embarked upon. While we have made a great start, there is still much to accomplish. Our mission is to get bats and balls into more hands and introduce our communities to the power of cricket.

Foundation Values:

• Caring at Our Core: We promote a strong sense of community, ensuring participants feel valued, respected, and connected.

Impact and Achievements:

Thanks to the efforts of our dedicated team, we have laid a strong foundation and made significant progress. Our investment in the team structure has been crucial in creating more opportunities for play and improving lives through cricket.

Upcoming Challenges:

While we have achieved a lot, there are still challenges ahead. Expanding our reach and increasing participation requires ongoing support and resources. The introduction of our new Head of Cricket Participation and Clubs & Facilities Manager in the next six months will be pivotal in supporting our network and growing the game.

Strategic Priorities:

To achieve our mission, we have identified key priorities:

1. Inspiring Women & Girls to Play Cricket: We need resources to supply kits, fund coaches, and remove cost barriers for women's leagues.
2. Supporting Our Communities: Ensuring cricket is accessible and central to community life.
3. Nurturing the Foxes Family: Enhancing support for clubs to grow participation.
4. Becoming the Charity of Choice: Elevating our profile to attract more donors and support.

Opportunities for Growth:

The potential for cricket to make a positive impact in our communities is immense. With your support, we aim to:

• Inspire Women & Girls to Play Cricket: Creating inclusive opportunities for women and girls to engage with the sport.
• Place Cricket at the Heart of Our Communities: Integrating cricket into the fabric of our local areas.
• Grow and Nurture the Foxes Family: Supporting recreational clubs and fostering a strong cricketing community.
• Become the Charity of Choice: Establishing the Foundation as a preferred charity for support and donations.

How You Can Help:

We cannot further our reach without your support. By becoming a Foundation Donor, you can help us:

• Supply kits for three city-based Boys/Girls’ Hubs
• Train ten new coaches
• Fund five women’s indoor leagues to remove cost barriers for players

For example, a donation of £1,000 can provide coloured teamwear for four schools, encouraging girls to enter school competitions by avoiding traditional white cricket clothing.
