Leicestershire To Dedicate Glamorgan Fixture To #HerGameToo

Leicestershire CCC will dedicate Sunday’s Metro Bank One Day Cup fixture against Glamorgan to Her Game Too, showing its continued support for tackling gender inequality within cricket.

As part of Family Funday, Her Game Too will be on show around Uptonsteel County Ground, giving supporters the opportunity to find out more about the campaign, while kids can stop by to colour in HGT’s creative worksheets.

Her Game Too, which was formed in May 2021, strives to raise awareness of sexism, misogyny, and gender disparity within sport, and aims to educate others on the importance of inclusivity and diversity.

After partnering with the Foxes earlier this year, the Club has dedicated three T20 double-headers involving Leicestershire Men, Leicestershire Women, and The Blaze to championing the campaign “ with Sunday’s 50-over clash with Glamorgan the latest showing of support.

The partnership aims to champion women & girls’ cricket in Leicestershire, as well as ensure Uptonsteel County Ground is a safe and welcoming environment for female spectators to enjoy watching cricket.

Paige Caunce, Director of Cricket at Her Game Too, said: “We are delighted that Leicestershire's Metro Bank One Day Cup match against Glamorgan will be dedicated to the Her Game Too campaign.

“These events allow us to spread our message that cricket is a game for all to a wider audience and gives clubs the chance to celebrate the work they have been doing to push the Women and Girls' game forward.

“With the work the Club are doing at the recreational level through their foundation, to the preparations they are making ahead of being a Tier 2 team in next year's Women's domestic restructure, the future for Women and Girls' cricket in Leicestershire is incredibly bright.

“On behalf of the team at Her Game Too, we would like to express our gratitude to the Club for hosting this dedicated fixture and for their ongoing support."

Her Game Too flags will feature as part of the pre-match guard on honour, while HGT bears and badges will also be on sale, with all profits going toward women’s and girls’ recreational cricket.
