Leicestershire's 2024 Fixture List Released

  • Foxes begin season away at Yorkshire in repeat of 2023 opener (5 April)
  • Home summer starts with County Championship clash against Sussex (12 April)
  • Yorkshire Vikings at home kicks off Blast campaign (31 May)
  • Steelbacks (12 July) & Outlaws (14 July) home matches form new T20 ‘Rivals Weekend’
  • One Day Cup defence begins with Notts Outlaws East Midlands Derby (24 July)
  • Season concludes at Uptonsteel County Ground with visit of Derbyshire (26 September)

Leicestershire CCC will kickstart the 2024 campaign in identical fashion to last summer, as the Foxes seek to replicate their historic Headingley win during another season opener away at Yorkshire (5 April).

Alfonso Thomas’ side will then welcome Sussex to Uptonsteel County Ground for the first home fixture (12 April), before finishing April by travelling to Derbyshire (19 April) and hosting Northamptonshire (26 April).

Leicestershire fans can look forward to a trip to Lord’s at the beginning of May, as the Foxes take on Middlesex, starting on Friday, 3 May. Four-day home fixtures against Gloucestershire (17 May) and Glamorgan (24 May) end seven rounds of Championship action before the Vitality Blast begins.

First-class cricket will see two rounds each in June and August, before the final three matches of the summer take place in September “ with the Foxes ending the season at home to Derbyshire (26 September).

T20 Blast:

Following the opening seven red-ball matches, attention will turn to the Vitality Blast, with the Foxes hosting Yorkshire Vikings on the opening night (Friday, 31 May).

The Vikings’ visit is the first of two T20 fixtures in two days, as the Foxes then head to Edgbaston to take on Derbyshire Falcons as part of ‘Blast Off’ (1 June).

All seven of the Foxes’ home T20 clashes at Uptonsteel County Ground will take place on either Friday evenings or the weekend - with four Friday night, one Saturday night, and two Sunday afternoon fixtures.

Five of the high-octane showdowns will carry specific themes, including a ‘Sporting Capital Takeover’ to unite Leicester’s sporting sides for the Yorkshire Vikings opener, and a new ‘Rivals Weekend’ “ which sees the Foxes battle regional rivals Northamptonshire Steelbacks (12 July) and Notts Outlaws (14 July).

The group stage concludes with a second trip to Edgbaston, this time to face Birmingham Bears (19 July). Should the Foxes finish in the top four of the North Group, they will feature in a quarter-final in early September, with Finals Day to be held at Edgbaston on Saturday, 14 September.

One Day Cup:

After lifting the Metro Bank One Day Cup trophy in 2023, Lewis Hill’s men will begin their title defence at home to local rivals Notts Outlaws on Wednesday, 24 July.

Warwickshire will also visit Uptonsteel County Ground that week (26 July) before the Foxes hit the road to take on Essex (31 July) and Sussex Sharks (4 August).

Family Funday will return for the visit of Glamorgan on Sunday, 11 August, with Group B to conclude away at Gloucestershire (14 August).
