Louis Kimber has been called up by Birmingham Phoenix to feature in this summer’s The Hundred.
The big-hitting batter has been selected by the Edgbaston-based franchise as a replacement for Will Smeed, joining Foxes teammate Rishi Patel in the Second City.
Kimber’s selection follows an outstanding run of form for Leicestershire, including a record-breaking innings against Sussex in the Vitality County Championship in June.
The 27-year-old blasted 243 from just 127 balls at Hove, taking an English record 43 runs off an Ollie Robinson over to evidence his brutal force with the blade.
Kimber has also displayed his power in this year’s Vitality Blast, hitting 203 runs while striking at a mighty 153.78.
He joins Patel, Scott Currie, Josh Hull, and Rehan Ahmed in taking part in this year’s edition of The Hundred. All five will be eligible to return to Leicestershire for Metro Bank One Day Cup fixtures if they are not selected for consecutive matches in The Hundred.
