The final game of Leicestershire’s 2025 Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign sees a trip to Wales, as we take on Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens.
Following Sunday’s defeat to Worcestershire, the Foxes are now playing for pride with the knockout stages out of reach.
Glamorgan are winless this term, having been beaten in all six matches since their rained-off game against Derbyshire at the beginning of the competition.
Squad:
Roman Walker rejoins the squad against his former county. Ben Mike and Tom Scriven miss out with hamstring issues, while Ben Cox has been called up to The Hundred.
Leicestershire Foxes: Budinger, A Green, Handscomb*+, Hill, Holland, Masood, Patel, Salisbury, Trevaskis, Walker, Wood, Wright.
Last Time We Met:
A dramatic group stage meeting at Uptonsteel County Ground last summer went Leicestershire’s way, as Alfonso Thomas’ side edged out the Welsh County by nine runs.
After Peter Handscomb’s (103, 94b) hundred helped the Foxes from 59 for five to end on 271 for eight, the game was in the balance. It remained that way throughout, with the see-sawing contest going down to the wire.
It was Roman Walker (3/40) who won it, taking three wickets from his final eight balls when it looked as if Dan Douthwaite’s (61, 40b) knock was going to clinch it for Glamorgan. Liam Trevaskis (4/54) also playing a major role following his 47 with the bat.
Decisive Duel:
Talking of Trevaskis, he’ll be set for a starring role with bat and ball again on Wednesday, even more so in the absence of fellow all-rounders Ben Mike and Tom Scriven.
Into double figures for wickets this campaign, his spin has added assured control in the middle phase “ with the left-armer claiming 10 at 26.4 each. A 36.33 average with the bat also shows his worth to the middle order, with a promotion to seven at Sophia Gardens looking likely.
It’s been a tough competition for Glammy, but Asa Tribe’s contributions have been a shining light. The 21-year-old tops the batting and bowling averages for his side, and will arrive full of confidence having notched an unbeaten 122 last time out.
