Leicestershire are on the road again on Sunday, as they look to build on their opening round win in Surrey when heading south to face Gloucestershire.
It’ll be the fourth List A meeting in as many years between the two sides, with the Foxes winning each of the previous three.
Gloucestershire will be aiming to maintain their 100 per cent start to this year’s iteration, following victories over Derbyshire and Surrey last week.
Squad:
No changes to the 13 which travelled to Surrey last time out, meaning Ben Mike and Sam Wood will be attempting to break into the XI.
Leicestershire Foxes: Budinger, Cox+, A Green, Handscomb*, Hill, Holland, Masood, Mike, Patel, Scriven, Trevaskis, Wood, Wright.
Last Time We Met:
Leicestershire secured their passage to the 2024 One Day Cup quarter-finals with victory over Gloucestershire in Bristol last time out.
A rain-affected contest, the Foxes restricted the home side to 192 for nine after 36 overs, led by 3/37 from Tom Scriven.
Chasing a revised 196 from 36 overs, Leicestershire found themselves 19 for three before an outstanding 120-run stand between Ajinkya Rahane (62) and Peter Handscomb (65*) secured victory by six wickets (DLS).
Decisive Duel:
The winner in the battle of the overseas batters could prove decisive on Sunday, as Shan Masood goes head-to-head with Cameron Bancroft.
Masood has a wealth of 50-over experience, accruing almost 6,000 runs at 52.25 in the format “ including 15 centuries. The Pakistan Test skipper’s addition alongside Peter Handscomb is a mouth-watering prospect for Foxes fans.
Opening up for the Glos, Australian international Bancroft averages just shy of 40 in List A cricket. In his second campaign with the Bristol-based outfit, his ability to construct long innings will be a threat to Leicestershire’s chances.
