Match Preview | One Day Cup | Kent | 3 May 2025

Leicestershire make their first away appearance as a Tier Two side on Sunday, as the Foxes travel to Canterbury to take on Kent in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

Stephen Franklin’s side head south on the back of a much-improved performance last time out, and under on-field leadership for the weekend, with Scotland international Ellen Watson set to lead the team in the absence of Becki Brooker.

Kent enter the clash on a high, having thrashed Derbyshire by nine wickets on home turf last time out.

“We’re All Excited” | Whitfield Eager For First Win:

“Last week was disappointing, because we felt it was a great chance to win. But to make my debut and pick up four wickets was very pleasing, and to wear the Fox on my shirt was a proud moment.

“We picked up our batting and showed what we can do. The way Becki played up top and Cesca whacking a few really helped us, we just needed someone to push on and get that big score.

“I’m feeling part of the group. The girls have been so welcoming, and the staff are lovely; I’ve really enjoyed my first few months. We’re all excited for Sunday, we can’t wait to play at Canterbury and hopefully get that first win.”

Squad:

Captain Becki Brooker is unavailable for the trip, so Scotland international Ellen Watson will lead Leicestershire into battle. Hayley Brown also misses out, but Flora Davies, D’Nica Roff, and Lucy Weston all return to the squad.

Leicestershire Foxes: Watson*, Abraham, Bennett+, Colquhoun, Crofts, Davies, Herathge, Phillips, Roff, Sweet, Thatcher, Weston, Whitfield.
