Match Preview | One Day Cup | Worcestershire Rapids | 27 April 2025

Leicestershire skipper Becki Brooker says her side are ‘raring to go’ as they bid to avenge last week’s opening day defeat when they face Worcestershire Rapids on Sunday.

The Foxes head to Uppingham School knowing their credentials will be firmly tested, after the Rapids made headlines with a resounding 114-run victory over Yorkshire last weekend.

And while Brooker acknowledges Sunday’s contest will be ‘a tough challenge’, she insists it won’t deter the side’s determination to showcase their own abilities.

"We Have The Talent":

“Obviously, we were really disappointed as a group,” she says reflecting on last weekend’s defeat. “I know we have the talent. That was the main frustration, that we didn’t show people what we can do. This is another great opportunity to demonstrate what we’re about.

“We’ve trained hard and got behind each other, so we’ll maintain our confidence and we can’t wait to get back into it.

“We played at Uppingham last year, and it was a fantastic wicket, so selfishly I’m hoping a lot of runs can be scored again. We have the knowledge of the ground, hopefully that gives us the upper hand. It should be a good game.

“Worcestershire a good unit. The fact they beat Yorkshire shouldn’t deter us, we know what we can do and if we pull together as a group, I’m excited to see how we can go. You want to be tested; that’s what this league’s about. We’re raring to go.”
