Leicestershire have an instant opportunity to right the wrongs of Friday’s defeat, as they head up the M1 to face fierce rivals Nottinghamshire on Sunday afternoon.
The Foxes will be aiming for a T20 double over the Outlaws following the four-wicket win at Uptonsteel County Ground last month.
Notts enter the contest on the back of a 49-run defeat to Durham, leaving them in sixth position in the North Group, one place behind Leicestershire.
Squad:
No alterations to the 14-strong squad, meaning Lewis Hill, Matt Salisbury and Roman Walker are all vying to enter the XI.
Leicestershire Foxes: Ahmed, Budinger, Cox+, Hill, Hull, Kimber*, Masood, Patel, Salisbury, Scriven, Trevaskis, van Beek, Wood, Walker.
Famous Fixture:
The Foxes have savoured some famous victories at the home of their fiercest rivals over the years, including 2015’s meeting “ featuring a debut masterclass from Umar Akmal.
The Pakistan international made an unbeaten 76 from 49 balls - against a Notts attack containing the likes of Stuart Broad, Darren Sammy and Harry Gurney - to guide Leicestershire to a six-wicket win with seven deliveries to spare.
It followed great work from Clint McKay with the ball, the Australian finishing with figures of four for 24 to restrict a stacked home batting lineup to 148 for seven.
Decisive Duel:
Rehan Ahmed got the better of brother Farhan in the reverse fixture in Aylestone, hitting his maiden T20 fifty in a mature, yet typically entertaining, innings.
Currently unable to bowl as he manages a side issue, the 20-year-old’s importance with the bat is more valuable than ever. Finding himself at four, he’s averaging 28.6 and striking at just under 130 this term, clear evidence that the England star is responding well to such elevated responsibility.
Rekindling many a backyard cricket tussle, Farhan is following in his older brother’s footsteps as he embarks on his debut T20 campaign. With three wickets from four matches so far, there’s promising signs for the 17-year-old off-spinner.
