It’s Derby Day on Bank Monday Holiday, as Leicestershire Women head across the East Midlands to take on Derbyshire Falcons at Duffield Cricket Club.

The Foxes are looking for their second victory on the road in the One Day Cup, and will fancy their chances against bottom side Derbyshire, who are winless from their seven games to date.

Both teams will be aiming to respond to defeat last weekend, with Leicestershire beaten by Middlesex and Derbyshire downed by Worcestershire.

Squad:

Emma Thatcher and Ellen Watson both return to the squad. Aimee Colquhoun (toe) is ruled out, while Flora Davies and Prisha Thanawala are unavailable this weekend.

“We’ve shown pockets of fantastic things; we’re just trying to be more consistent and do the basics for a bit longer. 

“That’s understandable when we’ve had to chop and change a lot, so fair play to the players for taking responsibility wherever we’ve asked them to operate.

“With the bat, we’ve had some brilliant partnerships up top. It’s about playing risk-free for as long as possible and finding a way to keep that going through the middle and lower order.

“Our bowling Powerplays have been great too. We’ve kept runs down and taken wickets. The plans there have been really strong, so hopefully we can start positively again against Derbyshire.

“If we can learn from our mistakes and focus on what we’ve done so well as individuals and as a team, we can continue to progress. We’ve certainly improved in all three areas in this block.”
