Match Preview | Women's One Day Cup | Glamorgan | 2 August 2025

Two of last weekend’s Finals Day semi-finalists face off against one another on Saturday, as Leicestershire Women return to 50-over action with a trip to Glamorgan.

The Foxes will be bidding to take the momentum they’ve built in T20 cricket into the final five matches of the Metro Bank One Day Cup, having reached the knockout stages of both short-form competitions.

Leicestershire sit seventh in the group ahead of the trip to Neath, while the hosts are third with three wins from their opening four matches. The top four will qualify for the semi-final stages.

“I’m Excited To See How Far We Can Go” | Thatcher Buzzing For 50-Over Return:

“I think we’ve put in some strong 50-over performances so far. We’ve had some good individual scores and bowled well as a unit, which will stand us in good stead for the rest of the campaign.

“Personally, I think I’ve bowled really well. I’ve enjoyed opening and the excitement of bowling at the death, which brings more skills and variations into play.

“Ellie and I have bowled really well as a partnership. We both offer something different, so it’s hard for batters to get set with the pressure we’ve built. I’m excited to see how far we can go together in the next few games.

“In 50-over cricket, I want to nick batters off and I’d love a few more LBWs to my name. When you’re bowling for longer periods, it’s about bowling to a plan, building pressure through dot balls and being aggressive with your field settings to make batters play shots they’re not comfortable playing.

“We had to put up a fight in a lot of our games during the T20s, so that ability will be important when we face good sides again in the coming weeks. If we can maintain that energy and fight, we have a great chance to get to the knockout stages.”

Squad:

Hayley Brown returns to the squad, with Aimee Colquhoun and D’Nica Roff also bidding to enter last Saturday’s XI. Laura Crofts and Lucy Weston are unavailable for the trip to South Wales.

Leicestershire Foxes: Brooker*, Brown, Colquhoun, Davies, Herathge, Hughes, Phillips, Roff, Sweet, Thatcher, Watson+, Whitfield.
