Leicestershire Women return to home soil in the Metro Bank One Day Cup League Two for the first time since April, as they welcome table-toppers Middlesex to Uptonsteel County Ground on Saturday.
A repeat of the Vitality Blast Finals Day semi-final, the Foxes are striving to register their second win of the competition, having ran Sussex close at Arundel last weekend.
Middlesex are flying, having thrashed Derbyshire to earn their sixth 50-over win from six last weekend, all while boasting a net run-rate of +2.478.
Squad:
Six returnees to the squad. Flora Davies, Ellie Phillips, D’Nica Roff and Isla-Rose Williamson are all back in contention after missing last week’s fixture while with The Blaze’s academy.
Hayley Brown also returns to the squad, while Molly Abraham bids to make her Leicestershire debut.
Laura Crofts, Emma Thatcher and Ellen Watson are all unavailable this weekend.
Leicestershire Foxes: Brooker*, Abraham, Bennett+, Brown, Colquhoun, Davies, Herathge, Phillips, Roff, Sweet, Thanawala, Weston, Whitfield, Williamson.
“A Challenge We’re Relishing†| Franklin Embracing Middlesex Contest
“It will be a very tough game. Middlesex are a very strong side, unbeaten in the 50-over format, and have very good depth in their squad. It’s a challenge we’re relishing.
“We saw their threats at Finals Day. They were very consistent for long periods of the game. They put the ball in good areas, push hard in the field and never relent their pressure.
“We’ve spoken heavily about the type of partnerships which will win games at this level, so the 100+ partnership between Becki [Brooker] and Prisha [Thanawala] against Sussex was very impressive. We have to stay in the game for longer with the bat, and more partnership like that will win us matches.
“Any time players get an opportunity to play at this level, they have to grasp it with two hands. There are no easy games in Tier Two. We’ve got to back up those glimpses with bat and ball and this weekend is another great chance to do that.â€
