Leicestershire’s latest Metro Bank One Day Cup League Two test sees them travel south to take on Sussex at the picturesque Arundel Castle Cricket Club.
Stephen Franklin’s side are hoping to avenge last Saturday’s defeat in Wales, and will be buoyed by the long-awaited comeback of all-rounder Prisha Thanawala.
Sussex will also be bidding to respond to a disappointing defeat, with the Sharks well beaten by Gloucestershire last time out.
Squad:
A big boost for Leicestershire as England Under-19 star Thanawala makes her return to the Foxes. The all-rounder, who is dual-registered with The Blaze, has missed the 2025 campaign through injury but is set to make her first competitive appearance since January at Arundel.
Sophie Bennett, Laura Crofts and Lucy Weston also come back into contention, while Pathway products Izzie Fisher and Sophie Lawrence have also travelled with the squad.
Leicestershire are missing trio Flora Davies, Ellie Phillips and D’Nica Roff to Blaze Academy duty, while Hayley Brown and Scarlett Hughes are also unavailable this weekend.
Leicestershire Foxes: Brooker*, Bennett+, Colquhoun, Crofts, Fisher, Herathge, Lawrence, Sweet, Thanawala, Thatcher, Watson, Weston, Whitfield.
“We’ve Got To Keep Proving Ourselves†| Colquhoun Keen To Showcase Foxes’ True Potential
“We took a lot of positives from our bowling and fielding performance against Glamorgan. We knew they would be a good side and we held our own for large parts, especially the way we restricted them in the second half of their innings.
“Going forwards, we’re focussing on transforming those 10-20-run batting partnerships into 30-40 or 50-60-run stands. That will help us massively.
“On a personal note, it was a great feeling to take my first Tier Two wicket. I knew I needed to work hard and prove myself, so taking that wicket was amazing. Hopefully I can get a few more in the games ahead.
“We’ve got to keep proving ourselves both individually and as a team with the work we’re putting in and show what we’re really about on the field.
“It’s great to have Prisha back. She’s played a key part for us over many years, and she’s definitely been a miss. I know she’ll fit straight back in and bring the learnings from her other experiences into our squad. We’re excited to have her back around.â€
