Mike Turner Indoor Cricket Centre Set For Redevelopment

Leicestershire’s elite indoor performance training centre is set to undergo a major renovation next month thanks to the support of Official Partner, Durant Cricket.

The Mike Turner Indoor Cricket Centre will be developed with several state-of-the-art upgrades, enhancing its offering to Leicestershire’s squads, visiting teams and users of the Indoor School.

Featuring the installation of three freshly remodelled net lane surfaces, two brand new wing nets, as well as the expansion of run-up areas for bowlers, the renovation is the latest upgrade to the Club’s training facilities following improvements to the players’ gym and outdoor nets in recent seasons.

Each net lane will see its surface upgraded to better replicate matchday pitches, while shock absorption padding will be extended throughout run-up areas to reduce the physical strain on bowlers and enhance injury prevention.

Durant Cricket will also undertake work on the flooring at the rear of the hall, laying a new carpeted zone designed specifically for fielding and wicketkeeping drills.

Commenting on the redevelopment, Leicestershire CCC CEO, Sean Jarvis, said: “We pride ourselves on delivering world-class training facilities for our Men’s, Women’s, and Pathway sides, as well as the great number of the public who choose our Indoor School as their preferred training centre.

“With that in mind, we are thrilled to further elevate our offering alongside Durant Cricket, who have played an integral role in upgrading our training facilities across Uptonsteel County Ground in the past five years.

“These new plans will benefit all facets of the game, with batters, bowlers and wicketkeepers all receiving an enriched experience which will help them prepare to perform to their highest level on matchdays.”

Initial reconstruction work is due to be completed in the first week of April, with further modifications to be finalised in the following weeks.
