Rishi Patel continued his superb start to life in Australia with another blistering hundred, posting a second consecutive score of 160+ to help Bayswater CC to victory over Tom Scriven’s Croydon side.
The Foxes opener smashed 167 runs from just 126 balls, accounting for the majority of Bayswater’s 252/7, to guide the Victorian outfit to a 52-run win in the 45-over clash.
Patel struck 24 boundaries (17x4, 7x6) en route to his second successive ton, backing up his 169 on debut the week before.
Scriven picked up three wickets for 41 runs from his nine overs, before he was dismissed for 18 batting at number three.
Elsewhere, Ben Mike starred with bat and ball to help Northern District to an 82-run lead after day one of their clash with Gordon CC in the Belvidere Cup.
The all-rounder picked up a five-wicket haul (5/37), including a hat-trick to wrap up the opposition innings, before ending the day unbeaten on 79 not out (94b) batting at six.
On the east coast, Louis Kimber made his first appearance for Sydney Cricket Club. After a duck in his first innings, he scored an unbeaten 35 and a fluent 34 in his following two knocks, the latter ended by Lancashire’s Tom Aspinwall. He also picked up two wickets (20-3-65-2) during his first showing with the ball.
After penning a new deal with the Foxes last month, Roman Walker made his debut for Kingston Hawthorn CC. The 24-year-old recorded 17 with the bat before ending day one of his clash against Footscray with two probing overs, costing just two runs ahead of the resumption on Saturday.
Peter Handscomb, who hit three centuries for Leicestershire in this summer’s One Day Cup, continued his fine 50-over form with a knock of 104 for Victoria in their defeat to South Australia last week.
