Rain Rules Out Play On Opening Day At Lord's

Middlesex and Leicestershire must wait until Saturday to get their Vitality County Championship match under way after persistent rain ruled out any play on the opening day at Lord’s.

Heavy showers throughout the morning ensured that the pitch remained covered and, although the rain eased after lunch, umpires Paul Baldwin and Rob White ruled that the surface remained unfit for play following a 4pm inspection.

Both teams are undefeated after their first four fixtures of the season, with Leicestershire going into the game as Division Two front-runners and Middlesex three points behind them in third place.
