Rehan Ahmed Selected For England ODI Series Against Ireland

Leicestershire all-rounder Rehan Ahmed has been named in England Men’s 13-player squad for their upcoming Metro Bank One-Day Series against Ireland.
The three-match series, which gets underway at Headingly on
Wednesday, 20 September, is due to be England’s final set of fixtures before
the side fly out to India to begin their defence of the ICC Cricket World Cup.
Ahmed’s selection crowns a memorable week for the Academy graduate, who starred with 2/27 for England in Tuesday’s T20I against New Zealand after receiving his maiden Big Bash League call-up by the Syndey Sixers on Sunday.
Ahmed first broke through into the Leicestershire side as a 16-year-old during 50-over cricket, claiming five wickets and averaging 44.50 with the bat in his seven the Royal London Cup outings for the Foxes in 2021.
The 19-year-old will be searching for his second ODI cap after making his debut in March against Bangladesh. Ahmed previously impressed on the international stage during the ICC Under-19 World Cup in early 2022, taking 12 wickets in four innings to proper England to the final.
Zak Crawley will lead England for the first time with his Test opening partner Ben Duckett named as vice-captain for the three-match series.
