The Rothesay County Championship will remain a two-division structure following a vote by the Professional County Cricket Clubs (PCCs).
A proposal to play a remodelled 13-match Rothesay County Championship did not receive the required majority of votes from the 18 first-class counties to affect a reformed format.
The proposals suggested a 12-county ‘Championship’ and six-county ‘Championship Two’ “ which included increasing the Metro Bank One Day Cup to 10 group-stage matches.
It means Leicestershire will play in a ten-team Division One in 2026 following their promotion as champions of Division Two this term. The structure will retain 14 matches in each division, with two counties promoted and relegated as per previous seasons.
The Metro Bank One Day Cup also retains the same format, with each county playing eight group-stage matches in two groups of nine.
From next season, the Vitality Blast will be staged over 12 group-stage matches with counties moving into three groups of six.
