Scarlett Signs | Foxes Make Hughes Loan Addition

Leicestershire CCC is excited to announce the loan signing of wicketkeeper-batter Scarlett Hughes from The Blaze until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old bolsters the Foxes’ squad for all Vitality Blast and Metro Bank One Day Cup fixtures, subject to The Blaze commitments, and is in line for her Leicestershire debut against Worcestershire Rapids at Uptonsteel County Ground on Sunday.

A powerful left-handed batter, Hughes joined The Blaze from Sunrisers in December 2023, having risen through the ranks during a successful seven-season stint at Essex. 

In the 2022 Women's Twenty20 Cup, she was the 7th highest run-scorer across the whole competition with 233 runs, including two half-centuries and her T20 best of 70, made against Cambridgeshire.

Hughes featured nine times for her county the following summer as Essex secured the Women’s London Championship, top scoring with 67 against Surrey.

Discussing the addition of Hughes, Leicestershire Women Head Coach, Stephen Franklin, said: “Scarlett strengthens our batting group, adding another reliable run-scorer to our top order. As a left-hander, she also provides us with incredibly valuable variation for white-ball cricket.

“She brings professional experience, as well as the standards we are striving for as a squad. We’re confident Scarlett's skillset and personality will complement the rest of the group perfectly.”
