Leicestershire Second XI’s season ended in a draw with play abandoned before a ball was bowled on day four at Loughborough Town CC.
After only 47 overs were possible on day one of the SEC clash between Leicestershire and Lancashire, days two and three were completely lost to the weather, with a wet outfield also scuppering prospects of play on the final day of the campaign.
Sincere thanks to Loughborough Town CC Groundsman Ed Clarke, and his small band of helpers, for all the work both seen, and unseen that has been done before, during, and after the game to ensure that some play was possible in spite of the elements.
Thank Yous From Pete:
Before signing off for the season, on a personal basis, I would like to mention the hard work that has been put in behind the scenes by a number of people regarding the 2nd XI this season.
Dips Patel works tirelessly for the benefit of Leicestershire 2nd XI. Dips’ guidance, advice, encouragement, and support to all payers representing the 2s is second to none. I cannot overstate the commitment, and effort put in by Dips.
Phil DeFreitas and Jigar Naik have also given valuable assistance with their exceptional knowledge over the season. Physio, Jeet Mistry has provided expertise in pre match warm-ups and has been on hand to deal with any injuries incurred to players during 2nd XI matches.
Abby Thorley has overseen the video feed for all 2nd XI home games so that the game can be viewed online, in addition to being analysed by our coaches. Dan Nice has, as always, been the fulcrum, ensuring that everything is organised, hotel accommodation, transport, player registration, among a host of other off field necessities that he oversees.
Finally, a sincere thank you to all spectators who have come along to watch the 2nd XI in 2025, your attendance has been very much appreciated.
The Club would also like to thank Pete for his fantastic efforts scoring and reporting on the Seconds across the 2025 season.
