Leicestershire’s Second XI fell to their first defeat of the season after Derbyshire picked up an eight-wicket win on Wednesday at Belper Meadows.
Matt Salisbury took two wickets as he stepped up his injury comeback, but the hosts chased down the target in 24.3 overs on day three.
The Foxes made a raft of changes ahead of play, as Chris Wright, Ben Mike and Liam Trevaskis were replaced by Nick Green, Liam Tew and Colby Dyer. George Maddy taking over the gloves from Harry Swindells.
Entering the morning 39 without loss, Derbyshire progressed the score to 57 when Mitch Wagstaff (11) was caught by Jamie Dunk at mid-wicket to become Salisbury’s first victim.
Will Tarrant then departed in Salisbury’s following over, Jay Madan holding on at gully to remove the opener for 42. Derbyshire now 60 for two.
Yousaf Bin Naeem (11*) and Amrit Basra (30*) guided the home side to victory without any further damage, the former hitting Green for four for the winning runs.
Salisbury ending with impressive figures of 11-2-29-2, Sam Wood also economical with 8-2-14-0. The 2s return to action on Tuesday away at Yorkshire.
