Leicestershire County Cricket Club are offering up to 4,000 complimentary tickets to their LV=Insurance County Championship fixture against Glamorgan with the return of the #SupportYourCounty initiative.
After a successful venture in 2022, the Club have partnered with the Cricket Supporters Association (CSA) & County Cricket Matters once again this year to distribute the free tickets across the county, with the hope that it encourages access to first-class cricket across the community and brings new fans the chance to experience the professional game at the Uptonsteel County Ground.
The ticket giveaway will allow entry to any day of the four-day match taking place on Wednesday 27 “ Sunday 30 April, with 1,000 tickets on offer for each day’s play of Leicestershire’s second home fixture of the 2023 season.
Glamorgan's visit will see a host of Test match heavyweights do battle, pitting the likes of Australia stars Marnus Labuschagne and Michael Neser against Leicestershire's international quartet of Colin Ackermann, Peter Handscomb, Wiaan Mulder and Rehan Ahmed.
The Club’s Community Team will distribute tickets across Leicestershire-based charities, initiatives and community groups, and anyone interested in offering the tickets through their community venture are encouraged to get in touch with the Club.
The initiative runs in partnership with the Cricket Supporters Association “ a not-for-profit organisation whose aims include ensuring the game is accessible to all; and County Cricket Matters “ a publication and online forum which aims to highlight and champion county cricket.
Leicestershire County Cricket Club CEO Sean Jarvis said: “To have The Cricket Supporters Association and County Cricket Matters back onboard for a joint #SupportYourCounty fixture again this year is fantastic.
To raise awareness of the county game at a time where many may be facing barriers around enjoying live sport is important for Leicestershire and cricket overall. Welcoming supporters and new faces through the gates over the four days is exciting “ the communities we serve are at the heart of our Club.â€
Commenting from the CSA, CEO Becky Fairlie-Clarke said: “We are over the moon to be supporting this ground-breaking initiative again as it leads the way in opening up county cricket to new, existing and potential fans.
“County cricket is the lifeblood of the sport and offers a great way for people of all ages and across communities to get into the game. We will do everything we can to ensure it’s another huge success.â€
Annie Chave, Editor of County Cricket Matters, said: “County cricket provides a wonderful sporting experience to its local community. With Leicestershire CCC offering complementary tickets to charities and communities in their area, it is a fabulous way to open those gates to people that are not always able to attend and attract a new audience in the process. This is a venture that I hope to see replicated across the counties.â€
Tickets (subject to availability) for each day of the fixture can be claimed HERE.
