Prisha Thanawala fired England to the semi-final stage of the ICC Women’s Under 19 T20 World Cup after picking up three wickets during Monday’s commanding win over New Zealand.
The Leicestershire all-rounder claimed excellent figures of 4-1-19-3 to help England cruise to a six-wicket victory in Malaysia, booking their spot alongside India, Australia and South Africa in the final four.
Thanawala was on a hat-trick at one stage, dismissing Hannah Francis and Darcy Prasad in successive deliveries as part of a double-wicket maiden in the 17th over.
Her off-spin also accounted for Eve Wolland, as New Zealand collapsed from 49 without loss to 89 all out “ a total England chased down with more than eight overs to spare.
Thanawala now has five wickets at an average of just 9.6 from three matches in the tournament, adding to the 22 she claimed for the Foxes last summer.
England will take on one of Australia, India or South Africa in Friday’s two semi-finals.
