Leicestershire CCC can today announce all-rounder Tom Scriven has signed a new two-year contract with the Club, extending his stay at Uptonsteel County Ground through to the end of the 2025 season.
After debuting against Surrey in last summer’s One Day Cup, the 24-year-old has established himself in all three formats for the Foxes, scoring 425 runs and taking 36 wickets in his budding career to date.
Scriven’s 17 wickets in the County Championship this term have been crucial to Leicestershire’s promotion push, while he finished as the Foxes’ joint-second leading wicket-taker in the Vitality Blast with nine wickets at 17.55 from six matches.
The former England Under 19 international’s death-bowling skills have rendered him an important component of Leicestershire’s white-ball sides, with his T20 best 4/21 taken during a clinical late-innings bowling display against Notts Outlaws last month.
Scriven’s bid to become a first team regular followed an impressive 2022 Royal London Cup and two half-centuries from his three County Championship appearances, as well as his average of 49.5 with the bat and 28.16 with the ball in the Second Eleven Championship.
Discussing his new deal, Scriven told Foxes TV: “It’s a massive privilege to play for Leicestershire and wear the badge, so I’m really excited to extend my time here.
“I feel honoured that the club has backed me to extend my stay and put faith in me to play more first team cricket this year, so I’m focussed on working to repay that trust as much as I can on the field.â€
“We’ve got a great shot at going up in the Championship and there’s a nice belief in the team that we can go far in the One Day Cup as well.â€
Director of Cricket, Claude Henderson, said: “Tom has been impressive in both red and white-ball cricket for the first team during the past year.
“He has a high ceiling, and we are very excited to see his progression over the next couple of seasons.â€
Scriven becomes the latest Leicestershire star to commit his future to the Club in recent months, following Lewis Hill, Rishi Patel and Rehan Ahmed in extending their deals at Grace Road.
