Trevaskis Takes Four As Strong Seconds Smash SACA

Leicestershire’s Second XI completed a resounding 74-run victory over South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA) on Thursday afternoon.

A host of First Team stars were in T20 action for Dips Patel’s side, with Sol Budinger (68), Louis Kimber (56) and Harry Swindells (50) all making half-centuries, before Liam Trevaskis spun 4/13 with the ball at Uppingham School.

After an uncontested toss, the Foxes batted first and got off to a flyer. It took just five balls for Budinger to slash Adam Patel through the covers for four.

Opening partner Swindells kept pace with the left-hander, as the pair each had 25 to their name when the fifty partnership arose at the end of the seventh over.

The duo then took 19 off Patel’s third over, with Budinger’s opening maximum of the innings “ a monstrous straight six “ bringing up a 34-ball half-century.

The explosive opener ran a couple off the following delivery to tally the century stand before smoking a Patel full toss for another six to conclude the eleventh over.

Swindells was next to reach fifty, jogging a comfortable two to earn his 36-ball half-century. He was bowled two deliveries later by Viv Hassen, however.

It sparked a quick flurry of wickets as Budinger (68) and Lewis Hill (1) departed to Hassen and Shaariq Sheikh respectively, leaving Leicestershire 130/3 after 15.2 overs.

Kimber then whacked 28 runs off Hassen’s final over, somewhat ruining his figures which had read 3-0-16-2 before the Foxes’ new T20 skipper arrived at the crease. Kimber hit three successive sixes, with the second clearing the ground and clonking a nearby car.

Ben Mike (9) and Trevaskis (0) fell in successive deliveries to Sanaullah Khan at the end of the 18th, but Kimber continued to accelerate the late innings charge. He started the 19th and 20th overs with sixes before he as caught off the final ball of the innings for 56 off 24 deliveries. Leicestershire ending on 195 for seven.

Mike began in emphatic fashion with the ball, removing both Atharva Prasad (0) and Ismail Mohmmed (1) in the opening over of SACA’s reply. The visitors 2/2 after one.

The away side went unscathed through the remainder of the Powerplay before Trevaskis began a devastating spell, striking four times in three overs.

First, he bowled Sheridon Gumbs for 14, before Hassen was trapped LBW for a golden duck next ball, leaving SACA 47/4 after seven.

The left-armer ended his second over by bowling Amrit Basra for 36, before working his magic again in his next over; Lewis Hill completing a smart catch at backward point to remove Rishabh Upadhyay for a-run-a-ball five.

Sam Wood, on his second appearance back from injury, was also in the wickets. The umpire having little hesitation in giving SACA ‘keeper Sami Khan leg before for 11, leaving the visitors 95/7 after 15.1

Leicestershire wrapped up victory with three wickets in as many overs. Omar Akram (26) caught by Tom Scriven off Roman Walker, Uday Modhwadia (2) comprehensively bowled by Matt Salisbury, and Patel (1) run out by a combination of Hill and Swindells to end SACA’s innings on 121.
