Trio To Depart Leicestershire At End Of 2025 Season

We can confirm that three players “ Louis Kimber, Matt Salisbury and Roman Walker - will leave Leicestershire following the expiration of their contracts at the end of next month.

They depart after securing a duo of honours in their respective spells at Uptonsteel County Ground, with all three playing key roles in helping Leicestershire win the 2023 Metro Bank One Day Cup and 2025 Division Two title.

The trio will join Harry Swindells and Chris Wright, who are both retiring from professional cricket, in departing the Foxes.

Kimber - who captained Leicestershire during the 2025 Vitality Blast - scored more than 3,000 runs and took 26 wickets across formats in his five years as a Fox.

One of three centuries for the Club, the big-hitting batter made global headlines when smashing a scintillating 243 against Sussex at Hove during the 2024 season.

It was a knock which re-wrote the County Championship record books, achieving the most runs in a single over (43) and the fastest double-century (100 balls), while he also broke Ben Stokes’ record for the most sixes in an innings (21).

Also departing is seamer Salisbury, who joined the Club from Durham ahead of the 2023 campaign. He debuted immediately against Yorkshire, as the Foxes ended a 113-year wait for a first-class victory at Headingley.

The right-armer snared 42 wickets in his three seasons on Grace Road, bested by figures of 5/73 away at Sussex in September 2023.

Welsh-born Walker made the switch to Leicestershire at the back end of the 2021 campaign, debuting against Durham the following summer. He claimed 39 First Team wickets in that time.

The 25-year-old caught the world’s attention when taking an impressive five-fer against India’s Test stars during a four-day Tour match in 2022, removing the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja en route to first innings figures of 5/24.

Playing half of the Foxes’ Metro Bank One Day Cup matches in their historic 2023 triumph, Walker starred in an early round clash against Kent, taking a career-best 6/43 at Beckenham to mark his 23rd birthday in style.

Thanking the trio for their contributions, Director of Cricket, Claude Henderson, said: “Louis, Matt and Roman have given a tremendous amount of value to Leicestershire on and off the field.

“We thank them for everything they have done for the Club and wish them every success for their next steps.”

All three leave with the heartfelt thanks of everybody at Leicestershire CCC, as well as our best wishes for the next chapters in their careers.
