Work hard, play hard.
A product of Leicestershire’s fabled academy, Mike made an instant impact on debut in a 2018 County Championship clash at Hove, taking nine wickets as an 18-year-old against a star-studded Sussex side.
He regularly found big moments in the years which followed. After famously thumping Adam Lyth for six off the final ball to clinch victory over Yorkshire in the 2020 Vitality Blast, he bowled a nerveless final over to down Surrey – who only required four runs with three wickets in-hand – in the 2021 Royal London Cup.
Mike set a career-high 99 not out with the bat at Lord’s the following summer, which – paired with a sublime T20 campaign – caught the attention of Yorkshire, who he joined that winter.
Returning to Leicestershire in November 2023 after a one-year stint at Headingley, the all-rounder claimed his first-class best figures of 5/22 during victory over Middlesex at Uptonsteel County Ground in July 2024.
The Nottinghamshire-born star took ten wickets in Leicestershire’s opening three Rothesay County Championship matches of the 2025 campaign, before hamstring injuries limited him to just one further red-ball appearance in the Foxes’ title-winning campaign.
